This hat is too big for me, and is forever falling off my head. I’m working on it, I’m growing into it. I’m doing my best everyone, so give me a break.
To all the mothers in the world: please, let’s stop this charade of pretending motherhood is all bliss and smooth sailing. When we act like we are supermoms,we just make each other look and feel bad. We become, each of us isolated, in her lonely bubble, thinking she’s a failure.
Well, let me tell you a secret that I learned from working in Women’s Mental Health: Almost everyone finds motherhood difficult at times. Everyone has dark moments, and everyone longs to be alone andย distance themselves from their children at times.
There, I’ve said it. Now let’s just all tell each other the truth. Let’s have each other’s backs. Let’s not live for our children but with them.
Trust me, it’s much less stressful. And much more fun.
Wise words.
I have five children, all are adorable (naturally, I’m their mum), all have been totally horrible (like is said, I’m their mum), all have made laugh, and cry; given me inspiration and worn me down to a frazzle. All have, and do, make me proud. Each has also made me ashamed. Each has all of my heart and for each, and all of them I both would fight and die for. Motherhood is tough, it does not get any easier no matter how many children you have. Your role of mother is like the first time because each child is different, individual. One size does NOT fit all.
For me and mine, we live with and in each other. We are blessed and thankful.
Your posts are also a blessing to read, thank you ๐
